Deliberative Citizenship Initiative campus- and community-wide programs and activities are designed to focus on the uses of deliberation as an alternative to the non-constructive cross talk that has come to dominate our public discourse. Beyond learning about and practicing deliberation, the DCI’s programs and activities equip participants with real-world skills that are transferrable across any number of disciplines and professional fields.
Anyone who participates in DCI activities is eligible to earn badges and certifications by demonstrating their knowledge and skills and verifying their participation in different events and programs through a series of DCI-verified achievements. By collecting different achievements, you can earn different levels of both badges and certificates.
DCI Deliberators (i.e. those who participate in DCI events and programs) can earn a variety of badges that serve as evidence of their engagement and learned skills. DCI Facilitators (i.e. those who lead deliberations with the DCI) can earn an actual certificate and professional certification at various levels of proficiency as evidence of their skills and knowledge of deliberative facilitation. Both the deliberator and facilitator badges and certifications can be digitally transferred to LinkedIn and other micro credentialing platforms, such as Credly.
