Efforts Elsewhere

There are many, many efforts across the county and around the world that are promoting more democratic deliberation.  These include initiatives that have been going on for decades, such as the National Issues Forums that are sponsored by the Kettering Foundation.  They also include initiatives that have been launched more recently, such as the Bridge Alliance.  The National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation is  a “network of over 700 individuals and organizations helping communities of all sorts have more productive conversations on what matters most,” and its website provides a useful hub of information about these diverse efforts and their different approaches.  The Deliberative Pedagogy Lab introduces a range of resources on introducing more deliberation into the classroom. There are also a wide range of other initiatives not listed on these sites that are also focused on fostering more and better democratic discourse, and we look forward to learning about them as well.  If your organization is interested in collaborating with us in the future on continuing this work, please contact dci@davidson.edu.
