This past year the DCI was able to accomplish a remarkable amount, and its successes have been in large part made possible by the contributions of our DCI Assistant Director, Sara Copic. Whether it was meeting with the DCI Fellows, working on deliberation and pathways guides, planning the logistics of upcoming events and programs, or serving as the moderator of our AI Deliberative Forum, Dr. Copic helped the DCI expand its impact significantly in the 2023-24 academic year. Her recent departure from Davidson is therefore bitter-sweet – we are excited for her as she takes on a new opportunity but are sad that it will take her away from us.
Given the importance of Dr. Copic’s contributions, we have initiated a search for a new Assistant Director of the DCI. Priority review of applications will begin on June 3, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. If you know anyone who might be interested, please forward the job description for the position on to them. The Assistant Director assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of the DCI’s programs and components. These components include efforts to create opportunities for productive dialogue and deliberation in diverse classroom settings, outside of the classroom, and in the community.
